2gether: The Series is a BL romance or BoyLove genre show which premiered in 2020. The show garnered much appreciation both locally as well as Internationally and was also a commercial hit. Tine Teepakorn is a handsome or “chic” cheerleader pursuing Law at a University. He has been in several unsuccessful relationships with girls and considers himself quite the catch. However, the unwanted attention from a fellow batchmate called Green leads to Tine seeking the help of college heartthrob, Sarawat, a reticent boy from the Political Science faculty who also plays the guitar and football.

Tine approaches and tries multiple ways to convince Sarawat to be his fake boyfriend, perhaps a little too hard. He even joins the music club that Sarawat is part of, in order to ingratiate himself with his interests. Even though Tine is an absolute disaster with the guitar, he still manages to get in. Tine’s association with Sarawat leads him to be under the constant purview of Sarawat’s unofficial fan club #SarawatWives, an online group that, hilariously, Tine is also secretly a part of. A friendship develops between the two and needless to say the lines eventually get blurred which leads to Tine questioning himself over feelings of jealousy.

Tine and his friends Fong, Ohm and Phuak have good or maybe bad times eating sub standard street food and then giving bad reviews which leads them to being banned from several eateries. Sarawat and Tine bond over multiple guitar sessions, several eventful drinking sessions, a couple of concerts and football matches. Tine is oblivious to the end and there’s a big reveal regarding Sarawat.

What starts as a gentle flirtation explodes into a full fledged serious relationship. Sarawat, who is always under public Scanner of #SarawatWives and other jealous males of the campus might not be all that confident as he seems and might also have certain not too subtle hidden agendas.

The series also has humorous sub-plots with the supporting characters: Man’s search for the elusive boy he accidentally meets at a seminar, Boss’s attempts to woo Tine’s one time crush, Pear. Or the story of Phukong, Sarawat’s brother who raises a storm when he attends the campus open house to select his course but instead gets his life entered into a storm when he meets super-senior Mil from Architecture, Sarawats rival and contender for Tine’s heart. Some more pairings on the side, which ensure that the series is a total BL fest.

The series is fun and romantic, which makes for a light hearted watch. We don’t have parents involved except for a brief appearance by Sarawat’s mom. Issues or prejudices faced regarding gay love are not explored or mentioned to keep the tone light. It is PG-13 rated, which should ease anyone who has apprehensions in exploring the genre to watch it. Some of the acting could be called mediocre though one of the leads Vachirawit (Sarawat) shows considerable acting potential in one of the episodes when he turns up drunk to visit Tine.
